Newest Fliers Review

Hey everyone! I HAD to share a recent in-depth review for Fliers because it’s amazing. I’ll link her blog here, but I’ll also share it down below with my thoughts!

Fliers by author Laura Mae is the first book in the Fliers series and I had so much fun reading this book! I love reading books written by indie authors for many reason, one being that you help an indie author! another being that I always seem to find hide gems and Fliers is definitely a hidden gem.

I love how she starts off with her support of indie authors, first off. This is awesome, be like her!!

The story takes place in a world where society is split into Humans – Fliers – and Fairies. Humans don’t generally care for the Fliers or Fairies. I don’t want to spoil too much but lets just say this causes problems for the two species.

Just a couple problems… 😉

The Main character, Sydona, is of course a Flier and man let me tell you something about Syd I. Love. Her. I’ve read a couple of previous reviews on this book on goodreads (which by the way don’t sway me any which way before I pick up a book some people are too snobby when they review books and do they even realize authors have feelings?) (ANYWAYS) and a lot of people mention Syd is too naive or closed off from the world but I think that’s one of the reasons I love her so much. She just wants to chill in her house away from the world with her veggies and Fairies, whats so wrong about that? Before I get side tracked let me just move on into why I love her, regardless of being able to hide out there and do nothing about it, she chooses to do something about the situation on the book. and she’s so stinkin brave! she really is naive about certain things don’t get me wrong but it all plays into her character perfectly.

This makes me so happy because almost no one talks about Sydona. The narrative is third-person limited and most of the story takes place in Sydona’s head and explains her feelings. In my opinion, I feel it makes you closer to that person and I’m glad that she was able to express her love for Syd. ❤

The beginning of the book felt a bit slow but that’s because there’s certain things that I realize need to play out, like certain characters coming into the story and character development so that didn’t bother me at all. You know what I loved about this book most of all? It felt genuine. The book isn’t trying hard to fit into this YA fantasy-fairy world that I feel like it keeps getting repeated over and over again. It is it’s own story set in pretty normal times with a character who is her genuine self.

I agree! I created this story from a dream and not from any story I knew of. I was not trying to write into a specific genre and did my own thing. I’m glad it was reflected as such.

Let me not forget that when it does pick up and there’s action and fighting this Laura Mae KILLED. IT. (In a good way, if you don’t get my enthusiasm) Syd is a bad ass and I love her and I’ll fight anyone for her. I love the mix of characters in this story too! There are different ages and backgrounds and they mix in super well. This book was honestly so fun for me to read and it only took me a little bit longer than usual to read because I read the E-book and I had a two day migraine episode 😦 But I totally give this book 4 stars out of 5 and recommend it to anyone who loves Ya fantasy!

I wanted to have a strong female character in this story and one who does not give up easily. And I’ve been told I write action pretty well. I honestly love writing the action scenes a lot because I myself get very immersed into it. I really try to keep it interesting and not confusing. Diversity is important to me as well as we live in a diverse world, it’s only natural to represent that.

I want to thank ‘&shereads’ so much for the review!!

Keep in mind SPARROWS is still coming and will be releasing SUPER SOON. I know I keep saying that but everyday is a little bit closer, right? Make sure you’re following my blog or even on Twitter to know exactly when the sequel will be coming out!

Now accepting Beta Readers!

Hello everyone! If you haven’t heard already from social media, I am now accepting beta readers for the first 10 chapters of Sparrows!! (Possibly all of them if I edit them in time) If you have read the first book, and enjoyed it, please contact me! I would love to hear your thoughts!

Keep in mind, with my beta readers who read the entire manuscript and help me out, I will give those readers a free copy once it’s published! (And maybe even put your name at the end!)

Here is the Synopsis: Sydona Wilder and her fairy Raoul are back as they join the Sparrows rebellion group against the National Fliers Association. Despite the supposed death of the NFA leader, Dr. Malik, the experiments still continue. Her new mission is to eradicate the remaining camps and free her people. However, she quickly learns humans aren’t the only ones who are untrustworthy. As she settles into the group, politics and betrayals are quick to rise and sometimes the only one she can trust is herself.

Personal Update

Hello everyone! Wow, it’s been a bit since I’ve just casually posted on here and not done an interview, huh? Well, I thought I would do a bit of an update on what’s been going on.

My writing has been going really well! I haven’t written much in the past couple days, but it’s still a much faster process than I had anticipated. I’m already on chapter 12 of Sparrows and it’s going in an… interesting direction. I haven’t really outlined anything, since I’m more of a panster, but I think that’s what makes writing really fun for me! I’ve introduced some new characters that I’m still trying to feel out and get to know. I think that’s something I really struggle with. I may need to do some interviews for them too. At the beginning of the story, I have more fairy things, but now it’s kind of going away. I need to find a way to put them back into the story more, cause from what I’ve heard, you guys really love Raoul. I mean, who doesn’t? He’s super lovable. But things are going well and I can’t wait to finish it and start editing to make it even more amazing. Then beta reader time! Wooo!!

Check out these awesome fan arts I’ve gotten recently too!

I’ve been heavily involved in Twitter too. (if you don’t follow me, you should, just sayin’.) I am active everyday on there, doing writing challenges and just having fun with other writers and people. It’s an amazing community that I had no idea even existed. Originally, I met a lot of writers on FB groups, and that’s a majority of people I follow on Twitter now. It’s been such a great platform and I may actually end up weeding out Facebook all together. And also, I WILL be doing a massive giveaway on Twitter once I hit 1,000 followers! *wink wink*

Also, if you didn’t know, I published my book on Barnes and Noble! Yay!! Of course it’s only the eBook version, but if you happen to ask for it at the store for like, a physical copy, it may end up getting sent there. How awesome is that?! It’s also on a bunch of other places that I put in the “Book” tab up at the top. Check ’em out!

Another cool thing is that I recently did a Podcast with Samantha Hendricks about dreams and writing and every little thing in between. We may even end up doing some reoccurring segments talking about dreams and books about dreams/books inspired by dreams. I’ll definitely post it here once it goes up! Sam is so awesome and I hope we get to talk much more!

I am still working on something in particular that I’m VERY excited to share with you all. I’ve discovered a site called Zazzle, and it’s a place to customize things with your logo’s, artworks, or whatever you want. I have been going crazy with all the different merch I can do for Fliers! Like keychains, hats, mousepads, cups, bottle openers, magnets, like SO MUCH STUFF. All of course Fliers related! I’m thinking I will launch it on November 1st. 😀

Just an example of some things I will have in the shop!

Another awesome thing, I do have my cover art done for Sparrows already! But, it will be a little while before I show it off! May make changes to it. We’ll see!

Other than that, I’m still doing the freelancing graphic design job for Del Webb as well as my FT job at the resort. It’s been pretty great! I definitely feel like sometimes I am doing too much, but none if it really feels like work, which is what it’s supposed to be like, right?

Well, that’s about all that’s going on with me lately! I’ll talk to you guys again soon! ##

Interview with Michael Chrobak

Good Morning or Afternoon, depending on where you live… How are ya! I had the pleasure of talking with author Michael Chrobak this past week. He writes fantasy Christan novels and he’s such a great writer. He interviewed me in the funnest way. It was over texting, but with emoji’s and gifs. Very original! If you want to check it out, you can click here!

He’s also giving his readers a sneak peek of my book Fliers, which is such a great idea! I gave him the first two chapters and I feel silly for not letting you guys have that honor! So, if you’re still unsure if you want to pay for it, you can download Chapters 1 & 2 for free and decide from there. Just click on this link!

Remember his name because I will also be having him on the Indie-Go interviews in July. So keep an eye out!

P.S I also made a new tab at the top of my page that’s dedicated to Fliers — if you wanna check it out. 🙂 As always, happy reading and writing! ##
