6 Tips for First Time Writers

Hello lovelies! So, tonight I told myself that I was going to write a ton. I have all these ideas in my head of how I want a current scene to go. I went home and, well, this night did not go as I planned. Not only did I not write a single word, I made a video about it. The irony, was I mentioned several times in the video to JUST FUCKING WRITE.

The quality is super crappy and I am new at this whole “not blogging” thing. You know, have an ACTUAL topic in mind. (what a concept!) I’m really bad at rambling and this video made me feel like I was auditioning for a C rated movie. Either way, I hope what is actually said helps someone out there. I promise to make better videos and put a bit more of my personality into them. Enjoy! ##

* Day 27ish – Kick Ass

Been busy setting up a new website for my portfolio! Check it out!

Conversely, write about something that’s kicking ass right now.

Segue into our topic about portfolios… I am in a class right now that is focused strictly around setting up a great and professional portfolio. The teacher said that if we have a website already, we can just use that to display our works. Great!

Except no. Not trying to bad mouth WordPress, but you have to pay a LOT of extra in order to do anything on here… Struggling for a couple hours, trying to figure out how to display my digital art work on here, I was close to giving up. I was not amused about having to make an entirely new website. It’s a lot of work and blah, blah, blah (lazy me). I just did not want to do it. But, I thought I would at least give it a shot. Then I came across Wix.

I’m sure you have seen it advertised all over the internet, tv and the like. It was made to be this super easy website to make your own website. Let me just tell you from my perspective; I LOVE Wix. Seriously. It’s much more user friendly, more customizable and has all these preset themes and color schemes and everything. I made it completely how I want in less than 24 hours. I am using it mainly because it’s very “picture friendly” and you can have more of a gallery look. I am SUPER happy with how it turned out. If you guys don’t mind checking it out and letting me know what you think, that would be incredible! ##

Beta Readers: Wanted!

It’s that time of the year again! Beta reading time! …what, you thought I meant Christmas? Pshhaaa.

I am in need of fresh eyes to read my unfinished manuscript. And what I mean by unfinished, it’s not professionally edited yet of grammar, spelling and what not. I have done my best to make it easy to read for you. You may find a couple of errors, but that’s not what I need you for. Just read it for the story. I will have a “read me” so you have more details.

‘Fliers’ is a young adult fiction book, set in modern day.
It is 163 pages. 20 chapters.
Approx. 80k words.

Synopsis: As descendants of fairies, Fliers were an old, forgotten species who appear human, but could fly without wings. They lived peacefully amongst humans for several decades, until a secret government agency developed new technology that allowed experimentation on Fliers and discovered how to make ordinary people fly. Not sitting back and accepting the news, Sydona Wilder and her fairy Raoul, set out to find the agency and put a stop to the capture of the rare species. But Sydona will have to fight her own battles of facing her dark past and learning how to trust people again.
